6th Grade 04:22
Do you know you’re not alone? Even though it feels that way You are smart and you are strong And people you don’t know will like you someday I know you have been afraid Of being left out, on your own I know you don’t know this right now But in your heart you’ll find a home And you don’t need them anyway At those parties that they had You were treated like a mascot Frozen bra made you so sad Late bloomers always get made fun of Why did you care they kicked you out? Called you a sweet girl as they betrayed you Why do you still care little girl? Those girls were never meant for you Like they said they were All those BFF necklaces and promises they made They’d have said those things to anyone those days 6th grade’s kind of weird for everyone so dear, you’re not alone I know it still hurts when you think of it So it’s how you know you’ve grown You rarely think of it And 6th grade still is weird They’ll hurt you and you’ll hurt them too You didn’t mean to But 6th grade is so weird You’re changing and it hurts you It hurts you Growing up is weird It’s painful and it hurts you It hurts you But you’re not alone Cause growing up is weird for everyone you’ve ever known You’ve ever known You’re not alone. *** Written from a prompt in Songwriting Club: "Write the song you needed to hear during a rough day in middle school", March 2022

Hello Like you, I'm here Feeling something like fear In the air Or in my skin Maybe deep in my bones Feeling kind of alone on this planet Even though what I feel Isn't rare at all Cause we all feel fear It's part of why we're here We all feel shame And blame things on others around us But I've found that I am tired of the game We keep playing And now I just want new adventures So I'm here Like you I'm here With a little bit of fear But mostly curiosity About what could be If I just come here It feels like schmoozing and It's kind of weird Why we show up in places that are new and scary Anyway So I'll take the time to say I hope you like me and these tender songs That go on and on They're always a little too long But that's cuz I make them up on the spot Which is like being in public And not knowing what to say Which is like every single day we're alive Alive Alive right now Alive Cause even social anxiety can be existential Alive We're all really alive Really really really alive So let's be alive here And breathe in that fear **** Written from a prompt in Songwriting Club: "Shmooze", Feb 2022
